Classic fm Valentines Concert with UB40 and Brandy…Top Naija Artistes too to perform .

In what can arguably be regarded as the biggest Concert this quarter of 2014, Nigeria’s first of a kind radio station, Classic fm 97.3, notable for its uniqueness; have announced plans for its annual Valentine Concert!
Basking in the euphoria of last year’s successful concert which recorded a massive turnout – with the men dressed in dapper outfits and elegantly dressed ladies swooning to the seductive voice and dance moves of American Grammy winning singer Maxwell, (not failing to mention additional performances from Bez, Black Magic , Yinka Davies and Omawunmi), Classic fm 97.fm is raising the bar this year and has promised Lagos another spectacular evening come February 16^th as the radio stations’ 2014 Valentine concert will now feature Live music performances by British reggae/pop icons UB40 and American recording artiste Brandy Norwood!
Speaking excitedly about the oncoming event, Classic fm Programmes Director, Chico Aligwekwe noted that show could not have come at a better time. “This year we’ve made sure there’s something for everyone. We are excited about the 16^th of February. There’s no better way to celebrate your valentine’s than this!”

The names of A-list local music acts who will be on the same stage delivering breath taking performances, will be revealed soon by the station that plays every song you know!

Kelly Rolland To Visit Nigeria Again, For Darey’s ‘Love Like a Movie’ Concert

Kelly Rowland who came to Nigeria for the first time for ThisDay Music Festival in 2007 would visit again to grace the second edition of Darey Art Alade’s music concert, Love Like a Movie (LLAM) just the way Kim did during the first edition. She would be in Lagos on the 15th of February 2014. The event would hold at the Ocean View Grounds, Eko Hotel, Lagos.

I pray she leaves strong and sound after the event because the first time she came she collapsed on stage while performing. Dehydration was cited as the cause.

Nigeria’s Guaranty Trust Bank Completes Purchase of Kenya’s Fina Bank

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GUARANTY), Nigeria’s largest lender by market value, completed its 8.6 billion Kenyan shilling ($100 million) acquisition of the east African nation’s Fina Bank Group after getting regulatory approval.
Guaranty Trust bought 70 percent of Fina Bank to gain entry into Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, the Lagos-based lender said in an e-mailed statement today.

“Fina Bank has over the years built an enviable banking institution in East Africa,” Guaranty Trust Bank Group Chief Executive Officer Segun Agbaje said in the statement.
Guaranty Trust, which also operates in six West African countries, agreed to buy Fina Bank in July, subject to regulatory approval in Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. Kenya’s Fina Bank had loans of $184 million and customer deposits of $285 million at the end of March, filings show.

Wenger:Manchester City loss,unpredictability of the title race

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes Manchester City‘s “jaded” performance against Chelsea highlights the unpredictability of the title race.
Chelsea ended City’s 20-match unbeaten run in all competitions with a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Monday, with Branislav Ivanovic’s first-half strike separating the sides.
That result leaves Arsenal top of the Premier League with 55 points from 24 matches, two more than City and Chelsea, who sit second and third respectively.
And Wenger does not foresee a runaway winner in the league, unlike in previous seasons.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “Chelsea looked always dangerous and Man City looked, for me, a bit jaded.
“They were not as fluent or as strong physically as they were at Tottenham [a 5-1 win] but it could have gone to 1-1, it could have gone 2-0 for Chelsea.
“It [the title race] is never as simple as everyone predicts. I said a long time ago that nobody will be absolutely above [the others]. It will be down to consistency.”
Arsenal’s own credentials are sure to be tested in the coming month with Premier League fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester United and a resurgent Sunderland to come.
And Wenger is well aware his side will need to battle to retain its place at the top and claim a first league title since 2004.
He added: “At the moment this is the period, January, February, March, where every game is a battle for everybody because everybody fights for something. “You just want to win the games.”
