Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers says that he will never ask
his players to play like Chelsea do, preferring instead the attacking
approach that the Reds have adopted so far this season under his
management, according to reports in the Independent.
The Merseyside giants overcame struggling Swansea City 4-3 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League to move six points clear of rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth and final qualifying berth for next season’s Uefa Champions League.
And after the game, Rodgers said: ”I worry always to play good football. I’m not one who is totally satisfied to always just grind out results. It is about winning and that’s what professional sport is about at this level.
“But for us I will always concentrate on performance because I think that the consequence of performing well consistently is getting results and this season we’ve shown that. We’ve shown that when we play well we get the win.
“The problem is that it’s not coaching. Some of the things we conceded goals in you can’t coach that. There’s a feel when you’re in the game of how to defend and you have to use that experience to be able to defend properly.”
