‘Splitting From Don Jazzy Really Affected Me’ says D’banj On Mo’hits Split

The Koko Master D’banj, was featured on the cover of Thisday Style Magazine last Sunday. In his interview with the weekend journal, D’banj opened up about his split from Mo’hits and how leaving Don Jazzy has affected his music career.

You parted ways with your partner and long time friend Don Jazzy, which wasn’t pleasant news for many of your fans in Nigeria and around the world; can you tell us why you took such a decision?
Any split or break up will affect anyone because you are used to a way of working and for me, it did. But I always look at the light at the end of the tunnel. It was after the split that I had my first global hit ‘Oliver Twist’. It hit the top ten in the United Kingdom and also it was when other endorsements came through, such as the theme song for Africa Cup of Nation ‘Top of the world’. I got to perform it in front of 92,000 people. Also I was made a GLO Ambassador and also an ambassador the Bank for Industry. But Don jazzy is one of Nigeria’s most amazing producers and will continue to be so, I respect his work tremendously. He is also a long time friend and brother.
Has the split in any way affected your musical career or has it had a positive impact on the musician you are today? I don’t believe it has affected my career in anyway. As you can see, D’banj is getting involved in many things such as the ONE Campaign by Bono; an ambassador for agriculture in Nigeria, my music is doing great too with my recent new video for one of the soundtracks for ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’. My career going great as expected. This year we celebrate 10 years of D’banj in the entertainment industry. I’m thankful to God. What’s the biggest lesson you have learned through it all? I have learned one simple lesson, ‘Without God we are nothing’.

D’banj covered Yesterday’s Thisday Style magazine and there’s one strange thing on the pop star’s cover photo – it appears he’s wearing fingernail extensions (possibly the acrylic type). The interview which carries the headline ‘Trailblazing D’banj, The Music Maestro‘, sees the former G.O.OD Music act discuss his ‘Oliver twist‘ single, working with Kanye West and his current relationship status. D’banj says he’s single. The photo shoot was done by popular photographer Reze Bonna. He was styled by Mai Atafo Inspired and Okunoren. So do you think it’s okay for men to wear nail extensions too?

Dbanj visits victims of Nyanya bomb blast

Dbanj visited some of the victims of Nyanya bomb blast today at the Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja where he donated some items and settled some hospital bills..According to NAN,he said
“I am a Nigerian and I am affected by any tragedy that befalls us and particularly in the spirit of Easter, I came to show the victims support.I have seen that the survivors are responding positively to treatment and thanked the medical team here for the efforts.We are appealing to the perpetrators of these acts to have a rethink and support the peace initiative so that our people would not be subjected to such wickedness”
The FCT Health Secretary Onakomaiya who came with him said..
“You can see that some of the patients are really excited to see a renowned artiste like D-banj visit them; it is very commendable”

D’Banj, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music Departs? Deletes Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music from his Twitter Bio

In 2011, fresh off the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West surprised a London crowd, Nigerians as well, with an announcement as he welcomed respected Nigerian enertainer D’banj into the G.O.O.D. Music family.
Fast forward to today, seems that relationship is no more cos D’Banj has deleted G.O.O.D Music from his Twitter bio.

D’banj Paid To appear on Real Housewives of Atlanta as Kenya Moore’s boyfriend?

Former Miss USA and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore, who claims she’s dating an Africa prince and was in Lagos for Valentine, has hired D’banj to be her boyfriend in the reality show reunion show.

We spoke exclusively to a Bravo insider that told us that Bravo has just set up taping for the reunion everyone is scheduled to attend, each lady and their husband.
And we’re told that while Porsha does not have a guest/husband, Kenya Moores will be bringing a guest. Word is she wants to help secure her spot for another season so she has in fact hired an African prince.
According to another person close to Kenya, she has contracted to bring in Nigerian singer D’Banj to the reunion. And by “contracted” we mean a business deal . . . she has hired him to pretend to be her boyfriend. D’Banj is a popular singer in Nigeria, and he and Kenya have done appearances together before – but they are not in any kind of relationship . . . and he did not buy her any type of car.

Kenya promised D’Banj $40K, plus promotion, to LIE on TV and pretend to be her boyfriend, D’banj happens to be the African Prince now,  anyway i don’t see anything wrong in paying someone to date you or being paid to be dated, that’s the real thing….
