Portugal have confirmed that Cristiano
Ronaldo is suffering with tendonitis in the patella tendon of his left
leg, although he is back in training.
The
Portuguese Football Federation have released a statement that confirms
the issue with the Real Madrid forward’s knee, having previously only
said Ronaldo was troubled by a thigh muscle injury.
The federation said Ronaldo has “a muscle injury on the back of his left thigh as well as left-leg patellar tendonitis.”
Ronaldo
did however begin training on Tuesday, working with one of the Portugal
coaches, Antonio Gaspar, including doing some ball work.
Madrid are said to be concerned with Ronaldo’s fitness and are worried he could aggravate his injuries during the World Cup.
Ronaldo
was struggling towards the end of the League season as well and was
forced out of the team near the end of the campaign due to a muscle
injury.
