Maya Angelou Lives On Even In Death.....She dies @86

Legendary poet, author, activist and musician Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928. professor Dr. Maya Angelo has died at the age of 86, according to reports from local sources in Winston-Salem. Two independent sources confirmed Angelou’s death to WXII’s Wanda Starke Tuesday morning. She was 86. A police car and an ambulance were seen outside Angelou’s home around 8:30 a.m. Winston-Salem police said they are at the home to investigate a death. In honor of her great life, we are taking a look at some of her best quotes. She left this shameful earth today. Dr. Maya Angelou demonstration of courage, grace and brilliance will forever serve as a healing force to this world. It's now our responsibility to teach to the very young about all she has taught us. Some of her quotes goes thus: “I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass.” "You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise" "When someone shows u who they really are BELIEVE THEM!!!" “A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.” "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution." " Actually it is a quote from one of her teachers (Mrs. Flowers) when Maya was growing up in Arkansas: There are a lot of undereducated people in the world who are smarter than those with a college degree (loose translation)--I am sure she was saying that being "book smart" only gets you so far, but having common sense and treating people right goes much further." "Out of the buts of history's shame...I rise! Up from the past's that's in pain....I rise I am a black ocean, leaping & wide welling and swelling I bear in the tide Beating behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into the daybreak that's wondrously clear I rise" "My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return." And many more... Didn’t know Maya Angelou was a musician? Listen to her song “Run Joe” Here!

Shocking: Villagers Caught Soldiers In Boko Haram Operation

http://www.mycelebrityandi.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/1263.jpg
Kala-Balge Villagers Allegedly Holding 40 Soldiers Caught In Boko Haram Raid As Prisoners:
ENDS has received exclusive, distressing information that the villagers of Kala-Balge in Borno state, caught over 40 suspected soldiers of the Nigerian army and have held them prisoner since the defensive two weeks ago where they successfully thwarted a Boko Haram invasion and killed over 200 terrorists.

Since we were alerted to this highly incriminating story, 4 days ago, ENDS has conducted several investigations and sourced more evidence supporting this allegation. We have sourced information from several townsmen who alleged that they have in their custody, over 40 soldiers of the Nigerian army and the Nigerian government is aware of this and pleading for their release secretly…
The villagers of Kala-Balge are sworn to secrecy and this has limited the out-flow of this information. The unity of purpose and strength of resistance of the Kala-Balge people against Boko Haram can be recollected from their several successful united actions against Boko Haram in which they have repossessed two light weight tanks, one APC, several hilux trucks and dozens of motorcycles from the terrorists and killed and arrested numerous. A vigilante in an interview with ENDS last week told our officer in Abuja that due to distrust of the State security services, they refused to hand over the APC and rather burned it, because they were convinced if returned it will find its way back into Boko Haram hands.
The villagers believe these are not terrorists dressed as soldiers, but actual employed men of the Nigerian army. They also stated that this is not the first such event where soldiers have been implicated in Boko Haram raids.
A BBC Hausa report last week as carried by DailyTrust, stated that a soldier of the Nigerian army had complained on air about his unit of over 200 able men, being told to stand down and watch as only 50 Boko Haram terrorists destroyed Gamboru-Ngala town this Month, killing over 300 and burning down the entire town. The solder who spoke to BBC said a government military helicopter hovered above, providing cover to the terrorists and did not fire to immobilize their tank and repel their onslaught.
The United States has commented on the level of sabotage in the Nigerian army under the Goodluck Jonathan administration; their distrust of the Nigerian operations was so immense, it limited their information sharing with Nigeria.
The possibility of 40 Nigerian soldiers being caught while involved in an alleged Boko Haram raid is obviously very serious and has great implications in the current state of success of Boko Haram and the continuous genocide in the north with destruction of local farming. We have been unable to get an official response from the Nigerian military who did not answer our calls.

Churches, mosques to pay tax, National Conference delegates vote

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by the Committee on Religion.

A delegate representing Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of money from their organizations and so should be taxed accordingly.

Supporting his arguement, Isaac Ighure a delegate representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors, in his submission said most religious leaders had so much money now to buy jets while their followers are living in abject poverty and asked that they should be made to pay taxes. "Some people buy private jets when people in their churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made to pay taxes,” he said.

The recommendations to pay tax will be submitted to the National Assembly at the end of the conference and if accepted by the National Assembly, it would then be passed into law. Who agrees that religious organizations should pay tax?

Boko Haram: Convicted Kabiru Sokoto begs President Jonathan for perogative of mercy

Convicted Boko Haram member, Kabiru Umar (aka Kabiru Sokoto), has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan for pardon. He is promising to assist the FG to fight end the Boko Haram menace.

Umar was sentenced to life imprisonment on December 20,2013 after he was found guilty of the December 25, 2011 bombing of St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madala, Niger State. He claims he is innocent and

In a letter to the president, written on his behalf by his lawyer, Sheriff Okoh, Umar said he was innocent of the offences for which he was convicted.

The letter obtained by Punch to the president reads:

“Your Excellency Sir, an innocent man was convicted by the court on the date aforementioned. It is for this singular reason that we are applying to you for presidential pardon in the circumstances, pursuant to your exclusive legitimate constitutional powers as enshrined in your golden conscience and under Section 175(a) and (b) of the Constitution.

“Your Excellency Sir, we are applying for respite and pardon for the convicted felon Kabiru Umar (alias Kabiru Sokoto) because we have absolute faith in your compassion and highest sense of fairness, equity and justice first as a God-fearing man and next, as the leader of the most compassionate nation on earth
Had Kabiru Sokoto been sentenced in an open court for the corporate acts of Boko Haram as a terrorist organsiation, we would not have spared a thought to make this application, but he was sentenced alone for acts committed by other members of Boko Haram (an organisation that was only proscribed after his arrest, detention and the making of his no-case submission before the Federal High Court, Abuja division.)
Your Excellency, we vow to reach out beyond the imagination and work with you in resolving the Boko Haram imbroglio, with the firm belief that no quarrel of brotherhood is eternal. We shall undertake this national task for the pleasure of God almighty, believing in His divine will for our peaceful, united, symbiotic and mutual coexistence as brothers and sisters under a fair and just leader.

We most honestly and sincerely urge you to exercise your prerogative of mercy and grant pardon or respite in this matter in the interest of justice. The law permits you to right each and every wrong in Nigeria, including those of the courts and this is one good situation where such powers under Section 175 of our grund norm serve the collective interest of our beloved nation towards peace and harmony.”

Dr Sid Exposes Wife’s Dirty Secret In Public?

Should we conclude that Dr Sid is openly lamenting about his wife’s excesses or he’s just gushing about her in public? Be the judge here but, what we do know is that the singer has let us into his wife, Simi Osomo’s unending thirst for shopping, and guess what…he hates it! Does he hate it? Mavin dr Sid is on The Juice‘s couch this week talking about the viral response to his hit song “Surulere”, the departure of Wande Cole from Mavin Records, and he spills the juice on his own leading lady. He plays a Juice game with Toolz and even had a trick of his own up his sleeve that had the whole crew cracking up. “We’ve gone for shopping together, some of her shopping habits I can’t stand but you know, as a man, I must be supportive, and she has opened my eyes to some of the finer things in life and I appreciate and respect that”, he said.

We Can’t Corroborate or Confirm Nigeria Stand Over Location Of Girls, Says U.S

The United States has said that it did not have independent information to confirm Nigeria’s claims to know the whereabouts of more than 200 abducted schoolgirls and questioned the wisdom of making public such information.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told Reuters that “We don’t have independent information from the United States to support these reports that you referenced,” when asked about chief of defence staff Air Marshal Alex Badeh’s statement that the military knew where the abducted girls were.
“We, as a matter of policy and for the girls’ safety and wellbeing, would not discuss publicly

Shaniqua Tompkins Says 50Cent Physically Abusing Her, Missing Their Son’s Graduation

Over the past few years, 50 has quieted Shaniqua a few times,But on Friday, V-103 Radio Station posted an interview with 50 Cent’s baby’s mother who was responding to 50′s claims that she didn’t invite him to his son’s #graduation.
Highlights From Interview :
On 50 Cent missing his son’s graduation because she didn’t invite him
I didn’t know a parent needs an invitation to a graduation. I think you make time for what you want to make time for. You know your son is in the 12th grade. You know that children, depending on the state, graduate May, June-ish. You’re busy, but that’s why you have assistants. The assistants can call the school and you can fly on your private jet with your big gold chain.
He’s privy to the same information that I’m privy to as a parent. You can call the school or have your assistant call. I’m not being condescending. It was no tickets. It was on the lawn of the school. People that I did invite, they stood on the side to watch the graduation. You could’ve been there. That’s your choice. And being that you said you paid tuition — which he doesn’t — you should’ve had a first class ticket then. You paid tuition, right? But he doesn’t. He pays child support. He doesn’t pay tuition. He promised me, but then he changed his mind. Like, I told him I wanted Marquise to change schools because I felt like the school he was going to was getting a little rough.
How Marquise feels about his father not being at the graduation
We haven’t discussed it yet, but on a day to day… I broke up with his dad when Marquise was 10 1/2. So he’s been with his dad from birth till then. He loves his dad. He misses his dad. So of course it hurts. He used to cry about it. He used to really get down in his spirit. But I think when a person does stupid sh-t all the time, it starts to lose its impact. [50's] just being [50] and I think Marquise feels a little sorry for him.
Child support
I don’t even get six figures. I’ll put it this way. He pays more in his light bill in Connecticut than he pays me in child support.
The lawyers are involved. That’s number one. It goes according to lifestyle. Regardless of the fact that I was with him, Marquise was accustomed to a certain lifestyle. I lived in a $1.6 million house in New York, I drove a Range Rover, I had a BMW, my allowance was $20,000 a month. I didn’t pay for any bills. I didn’t pay for travel. So he’s supposed to live that lifestyle to a certain extent. Everything he promised in court, ‘I’m going to take him to basketball games! I’m going to take him on vacations!’ He hasn’t done any of that. He hasn’t done any of it.
On 50 claiming she hasn’t worked since the year 2000
I had a job with TLC network and [50] came and stopped that. I had a deal with a reality show. The show was canceled but everyone got paid their full contract but me. So you say, ‘Get a job’ but I had one. TLC sent me a 1099. I filed taxes. I had one.
[50] filed his first tax return at 30 [years old]. I was working, paying for studio time, DATs, reels, incorporating companies. Rotten Apples Records which was his first corporation. He doesn’t owe me anything. He did make that promise that he’ll take care of me for the rest of my life. I knew when I left that my lifestyle was going to change. I don’t think my son’s lifestyle was going to change.
On people saying she’s bitter
We all want the finer things in life, but I left [50]. I knew when I left him that I was leaving a lifestyle. It’s not like he left me, I left him.
Why she ignores his calls now
I spoke with him and we spoke for a couple of hours on the phone [in September]. And when you feel like you can’t get through to a person…I know how to set boundaries. I’m not going to waste my time. He’s always going in on what happened in the relationship. Marquise is never the main focus. It’s, ‘what you did to me, you left me, you did this, you did that.’ He never takes responsibility for his actions.
On his claims she has a direct line to TMZ
TMZ called me and I don’t know how they got my number. I spoke with TMZ once because he went on Kelly and Michael saying that, ‘My son. He’s getting ready to turn 17 and we have this great relationship and his friends love me.’ And I’m like wait a minute, you haven’t seen your son in almost two years. This month makes two years. He hasn’t seen his son since May 2012. He hasn’t spoken to Marquise since the text messages where he told him ‘F-U. I have another child. Lose my number.’ Marquise hasn’t spoken to him since.
Why she thinks he’s hurt
I think me leaving him, it reinforced all the abandonment issues that he suffered as a child and it’s unfortunate and it’s sad. He never knew his dad. His mom died when he was nine, but he never lived with his mom. His grandmother told me extensively. Like, when I had Marquise, she sat me down and said, ‘He [50] was always here with me.’ So I think it reinforced those abandonment issues and I think that’s why he’s so angry. But I feel like you’re really not angry with me, you’re really angry with his mom. Not me.
On him finding out she cheated and beating her up in front of the kids
I’m a person who doesn’t go out much. I’m very much a homebody so he started seeing my behavior change a little bit because I did meet someone. I was cheating on him after he done cheated on me numerous times. I met somebody. So I started going out and I’m smiling about it. He didn’t find out about it. I think he had a clue, like, ‘Where’s your mom? She’s always home.’ He came home and I wasn’t there. So when I got in, he called me first. But I know how he is so I said, ‘I’m not going to come home until you calm down.’ And when I got home he just lost it. He lost it completely. Just lost it. Even when my daughter walked in the room, he still was hitting me. I hate to sound like a battered woman but it just bothered me. He really lost it and broke down and cried. He’s so scary because he was hitting me in one moment and he’s angry, but the next minute he’s in my lap crying like a baby. So it’s a lot of issues there.
Why she left him
I can’t say money changes a person. I was the girl that was on his grandmother’s stoop when he got shot. He went to my mother’s house to heal. I went to work when my son was four months old while he was sitting home being daddy day care, watching Sesame Street and Little Bill. He has created this persona. This 50 Cent character. I don’t know this person. It reminds me of CB4. No I don’t know this person.

COSON Settles Rift withBON, IBAN and Nigerian Broadcast Industries Sign Agreement

In what could have once been described as impossible, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) on May 21, 2014 at Eko Hotel& Suites, Lagos signed a historic music copyright royalty agreement with the entire broadcasting industry in Nigeria. It was celebrations galore at the star studded signing ceremony attended by the Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Emeka Mba; Director-General, Nigerian Copyright Commission, Mr. Afam Ezekude; Director-General, Voice of Nigeria, Mallam Abubakar Jijiwa who is also Chairman of the 400 member Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria, and several other top government officials.
The event brought to an end the prolonged disagreement between the music and broadcast industries in Nigeria spanning over 30 years which culminated in a major crisis in the last quarter of 2013.
It will be recalled that following the back-to-back and significantly publicized copyright infringement law suits filed by COSON against some of Nigeria’s topmost broadcasting stations in 2013, the stations under the aegis of Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON) and Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (IBAN) announced the suspension of the broadcast of the music of nearly all the best known members of COSON on radio and TV stations across Nigeria. This resulted in massive public outcry across the country followed by an all-out media war between the music and broadcast industries.
In reaction, the NBC and NCC stepped in in an attempt to resolve the matter. This led to the setting up of the COSON/BON/IBAN/NBC/NCC Joint Committee. Under the auspices of the committee, comprehensive negotiations have gone on between COSON and broadcasting stations in Nigeria since the beginning of 2014.
The NBC DG, Mr. Emeka Mba who commended the Chairman of COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji for what he described as Chief Okoroji’s doggedness and commitment to the respect of Intellectual property rights in the Nigerian creative industry, said, ” This historic event isn’t just about the Nigerian music industry but the creative industry at large. This is about the respect of intellectual property in Nigeria. Let us all see this as the beginning of better things to come for the Nigerian creative industry. This goes to tell other sectors that have been abusing creativity that the time is up. ”
Also speaking at the event, the DG of the NCC, Mr. Afam Ezekude commended COSON and BON/IBAN for sheathing their swords and finally coming to the table to negotiate. He also expressed pleasure at the outcome of the negotiations saying, “I did not realize that this day will ever happen in my time but I am glad that it has happened. We are finally here and are part of history. This event is not just about the copyright industry but a great day in the history of Nigeria. This is also proof to all that as a people, Nigerians can do the right thing if they put away individual interest and take on national interest. I encourage all parties involved in this agreement to keep to the letter and content of the agreement.” Mr. Ezekude recommended that the payment of music copyright royalties be made a condition for the renewal of broadcast licenses henceforth.
BON Chairman Mallam Abubakar Jijiwa said, “When the crisis was going on, I knew something will give because of how both industries need each other. I am happy that after several months of heated negotiations, we are here as witnesses of this historic day. This is a new dawn but we must all work hard to ensure that we achieve the objectives of today. I want to assure all that the members of BON and IBAN will meet their obligations by this agreement.”
The Chief Negotiator in the BON/IBAN/COSON/NBC/NCC Joint Committee, Mr. Mac Emakpore thanked the parties for bringing to an end a crisis that according to him threatened the growth of the creative industry in Nigeria. He said, “Several meetings down the line in the midst of heated arguments, we have finally come up with this document which is being signed today. I give God all the glory for this progress made in the history of Nigeria.”
As representative of IBAN, famous broadcaster and Managing Director of Ray Power FM, Mr. Kenny Ogungbe expressed satisfaction at the resolution of the crisis that had rocked the music and broadcast industries. He said, “I am personally happy for what has gone down today. Every organization in the broadcast industry will queue up behind the agreement we have signed here today. It is binding and we are proud that we have made history in Nigeria at 100.”
COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji in his address said, ‘For many years, Nigeria had run away from addressing this problem leaving many frustrated and driving important investment out of our nation. There are many who had given up, believing that the problem will never be solved. Finally, we have sat on the same table with the broadcasting industry and made stringent efforts to find a working agreement on important issues that have stood between our music and broadcasting industries. It may appear like a miracle but it has happened’.
Chief Okoroji concluded by saying, ‘While there is no way in which we can undervalue the importance of today’s agreement, I wish to say that our expectations must be tempered as we have had to make significant compromises so that we can move forward. This agreement is therefore an important first step as we begin the journey to end the many bad habits that have held the creative enterprise unprofitable in Nigeria’.
Present at the event were such big wigs of the broadcasting industry as Nigeria’s first ever female TV broadcaster, Ms. Julie Coker; Hon H.A.B. Fasinro of Smooth FM; Mr Larry Izamoje of Brila FM; Mr. Deji Awokoya of Beat FM, Classic FM and Naija FM; Ms. Evita Mousalli of Cool FM, Wazobia FM and Naija Info FM, Mr. Adetunji Majeed of NTA, etc.
Among the several key music industry stakeholders who attended the event were the masked music star, Lagbaja and Rub-a-dub master, Ras Kimono. Other singing stars present included Azzezat, Daddy Fresh, KSB, etc. Present also were showbiz impresarios such as Edi Lawani, Efe Omorogbe and Patrick Doyle.
The Board of COSON was represented at the historic event by Mr. Joel Ajayi, Hon John Ewelukwa Udegbunam, Alhaji Sikiru Agboola and General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji.
