You’ve got to go out and kick ass.” "You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise" "When someone shows u who they really are BELIEVE THEM!!!" “A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.” "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution." " Actually it is a quote from one of her teachers (Mrs. Flowers) when Maya was growing up in Arkansas: There are a lot of undereducated people in the world who are smarter than those with a college degree (loose translation)--I am sure she was saying that being "book smart" only gets you so far, but having common sense and treating people right goes much further." "Out of the buts of history's shame...I rise! Up from the past's that's in pain....I rise I am a black ocean, leaping & wide welling and swelling I bear in the tide Beating behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into the daybreak that's wondrously clear I rise" "My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return."
