The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated that
it would hold a meeting with chairmen and secretaries of all registered
political parties, and Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs on
Saturday, to decide whether to go ahead with the general elections
billed for February 14 and 28.
A statement Friday by Kayode Idowu, the spokesperson of INEC
Chairman, Attahiru Jega, said after meetings, “the Commission will
address a press conference to brief the nation on its decision with
regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently
scheduled”.
Mr. Jega had on Thursday briefed the National Council of States on
the preparedness of the Commission to conduct the 2015 general
elections.
He made a presentation titled, Preparations for the 2015 General Elections: Progress Report.
The National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, and Armed Services
Chiefs also briefed the Council on the current security situation.
Mr. Jega had informed the council that the commission was in a better
position to conduct the election at present compared to the 2011
election.
“Compared with the 2011 General Elections, for instance, our systems
are definitely more robust. We believe that we are ready for the
elections as planned,” Mr. Jega said.

INEC, Acting IGP, A Disappointment In The Making
When a responsibility is handed down, it is born out of the believe that such character have what it takes to perform excellently well base on the leadership skills such character must have attained in his field of career or in his or her day to day activities which must be beyond partisan politics, ethnicity, colours, e.t.c. but must be base on what is right with respect to the laws of the land.
It is in this light that i view the recent statement of the INEC boss with respect to the Osun state election when he said it is illegal for you to snap your ballot paper or write down your ballot paper serial number before or after voting. I was disappointed in this man whom many have attested to his pedigree of uprightness. I still wonder the section of the constitution the man saw this or maybe his own constitution is from the moon.
Election is a process and not an event, so i am still lost in the thinking of so many shortcircuited rogues (called leaders) in the unveiling on unfolding events leading to the osun poll or how could you measure the competency or transparency level of the Acting IGP boss who said electorates should not be at the polling station after casting their votes. Is this part of the grand plan to rig the election in favour of the PDP candidate?
Anyway at this juncture, I will like to encourage the osun electorates to go out en-mass and cast their votes for whoever they want in leadership position in the next dispensation and they should not be intimidated by the presence of military personnels who are out there to do the bidding of their paymaster and make sure they go against any act that is against the spirit of fairness, equity and justice. #OSUNDECIDES
