A.C Milan Striker Gets 18-Month Jail Sentence

Mbaye Niang, who joined Montpellier on loan last month from AC Milan, has been sentenced to a suspended 18-month jail sentence after a hit and run car accident.
The 19-year-old Frenchman admitted hitting several cars before crashing his Ferrari into a tree earlier this month.
He was charged with causing unintentional injuries, endangering people’s lives, a hit and run and driving without a licence.
The prosecutor had asked for 170 hours of community work but the court handed him the suspended sentence instead.
Eleven people, some of whom were slightly injured, had filed a civil complaint.
“I panicked,” the player told a Montpellier court on Monday, when asked why he never stopped after hitting the vehicles.
Francois Lafont, lawyer for the plaintiffs, said: “It was pure craziness. It´s not just an accident, this is assault. Ten people could have been killed.”

Chris Brown Can't Go To Jail Now!

Thanks to Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin, Chris Brown will be able to remain in rehab and not be sent to jail. Billboard reports Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray filed a motion with the court to have Brown placed in jail and face a probation violation hearing for his assault case in Washington, DC.

Murray claimed that Brown should be taken into custody because he is an “increasingly violent danger to society.” Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, argued that his client has not had any further incidents since the last hearing in December and the court should wait for the resolution in the D.C. case before reviewing evidence involved with that situation.

The judged ruled that the R&B singer could stay at the rehabilitation facility because he was reportedly making good progress with the treatment.

Probation officials say he has “a more serious and responsible demeanor” since checking into rehab.

Brown will have to return to the L.A. court February 28th for an update. The D.C. case is set to resume on February 20th.
