Mikel Arteta scored and was then sent off as Arsenal edged Crystal
Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday to establish a five-point lead
at the Premier League summit.
The Spaniard put the visitors ahead
with a 47th-minute penalty, but he was contentiously shown a straight
red card with 25 minutes remaining for a last-man foul on former Arsenal
man Marouane Chamakh.
Second-bottom Palace, who sacked manager
Ian Holloway on Wednesday, came close to snatching an equaliser, but
Arsenal made sure of victory late on when Olivier Giroud headed home
from Aaron Ramsey’s dinked cross.
After an even first period,
Arsenal made the breakthrough early in the second half, with Arteta
sweeping the ball inside the left-hand post from 12 yards after Adlene
Guedioura upended substitute Serge Gnabry.
Gnabry and Giroud both threatened to extend Arsenal’s lead, but Palace
were handed a lifeline in the 65th minute when Arteta was sent off for
bringing down Chamakh despite the offence occurring around 45 yards from
goal.
Palace pressed forward, and Arsenal were indebted to
goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for producing two jaw-dropping saves within
the space of a minute to thwart Joel Ward and Mile Jedinak.
With
three minutes remaining, Ramsey crossed for Giroud to head past Julian
Speroni and confirm Arsenal’s return to winning ways following their
mid-week defeat by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Edo mobile court convicts 63 for violating sanitation law
A Mobile Court in Fugar, Etsako-Central Local Government Area of Edo
State, on Saturday, convicted 63 offenders for violating the
environmental sanitation law.
Lawrence Wilson, the presiding judge ordered that the accused persons be taken to prison for seven days or pay a fine of N5, 000 each, in the alternative.
“After reviewing the facts of the cases before me. I hereby convict you all with an option of N5, 000 fine each, which you must pay within seven days or go to jail,” Wilson said. “Your claims that you people were not aware of the environmental sanitation law is not an excuse, because every last Saturday of the month is the sanitation exercise. I am only sentencing you with an option of N5,000 fines each because you all pleaded guilty to the charge.”
Pius Sule, the prosecutor, told the court that the offenders were found loitering during the sanitation exercise.
Sule, who is the Assistant Chief Environmental Health Officer of Etsako-Central local government, urged the court to punish the culprits, to serve as a deterrent to others.
The prosecutor informed the court that the offences contravened Section 12, Sub-section 2, of the Edo State Sanitation Law, 1976.
Emma Aludo, the Supervisor for Health and Environment, said that the exercise was a success due to the enlightenment campaigns by the council on the need to observe the exercise.
Aludo said that the sanitation became necessary to forestall flood as well as keep the environment clean for healthy living.

Enugu council election candidates presented fake documents – ENSIEC
The Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission,
ENSIEC, Dr. Boniface Eneh has said no candidate was disqualified from
the November 2, 2013 local government election in the state, on
political grounds.
Eneh, who spoke in a media forum at the commission’s office on Friday said candidates were disqualified either for not fulfilling basic requirements or for submitting fake credentials and forged tax clearance certificates.
He disclosed that although six political parties had earlier indicated interest to participate in the election, only the All Progressives Congress, APC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, actually submitted list of candidates.
“These parties that indicated interest by inviting us to their primaries are: Labour Party, (LP), African Liberation Party (ALP), National Solidarity Democratic Party (NSDP), the All Progressive Congress (APC), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“These are the ones that indicated interest by way of inviting us to their primaries and we did attend all the primaries”, he said.
He noted that aside from Labour Party, the other parties followed up by submitting the names of candidates and the Commission sent in screening team to the local government for the councillorship positions while that of chairmen and their vice were done in ENSIEC headquarters.
Eneh further stated that out of the three political parties, only the PDP chairmanship candidates scaled through the screening process, adding that the APC and APGA candidates were guilty of non-presentation of tax clearance certificates.
According to him, while some of the candidates presented mutilated certificates, others obtained their tax clearance certificates from other states.
“In the process of the screening there were issues which we have to
look into. Basically for you to be qualified to run for any of these
positions there has to be a certificate; in fact the basic certificate
is school certificate or its equivalent. There is also age difference
between chairmanship and councillorship candidates.
“This issue of tax clearance also came up and many were not cleared as a result of that. Some presented fake tax clearance certificates, some presented mutilated tax clearance certificates”.
He further disclosed that one of the candidates presented credentials belonging to a woman.
The ENSIEC boss, however, admitted that apart from councillorship candidates, no chairmanship candidate from the opposition party was cleared for the poll.
He said only PDP candidates are contesting chairmanship positions and that voting would be “Yes” or “No” but that for anybody to win he must garner 25 percent of yes votes in two-third number of wards in the local government area.
While dening any form of pressure or control from the state Governor, Sullivan Chime, he said the Commission was following the law.
He said the time for substitution of disqualified candidates could not be extended because the Commission’s hands were tied by the State Electoral Law, even though two out of the three days meant for substitution of candidates fell on public holiday.
He disclosing that the commission had been dragged to court by opposition parties, noting that they were not deterred as the Commission was ready for the elections having procured all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials.
He, however, disclosed that the APC and the APGA councillorship candidates would stand for the election in some wards.

Both
sexes tell lies for one reason or the other, no one is judging. So i
put together the most common lies men tell. You know when ladies sit
together to gossip about their man and they end up saying similar
things, that's how i came about this list.
1. “Me? I graduated top of my class.” This is a classic case of the runaway male ego, designed to present a man in the best light and impress a woman. When the lies continue into marriage, it’s not long before the truth will out.
2. “Of course I like your friends!” The lies to make a woman fall in love or stay in love account for many truth-stretchers. such as inflating one’s accomplishments and wearing designer clothes to appear wealthy and reveal how often they were used in their own relationships. Men were significantly more likely than women to use such deceptions.
3.“Honey, you’re the best.” One of the most lied-about subjects has to be sex. Perhaps that’s because it’s the area where we are most vulnerable. Here again men are likely to lie. In the first rush of romance it makes sense for a man to engage in exaggerated praise of a woman’s beauty and sexuality. But “you’re the best” lies can paralyze a relationship.
4. “No, I can’t call you. I don’t even know where I’ll be.” These are the sad lies, the ones he tells because he’s falling out of love. The more quickly a woman seeks the truth behind these lies, the sooner she can remedy the relationship — or, if necessary, end it. As one friend puts it, “I’d rather have the ax fall than slip down the endless slope of uncertainty and frustration.”
5. “That dress isn't too tight. It looks great!” By and large, these are the good lies — the ones that show he cares. But kind lies can be too much of a good thing if a man habitually says only what his partner wants to hear. It sets the woman up for rude awakenings. After all, if the dress she’s wearing really is too tight, has he done her a favor? Far better is the tactful truth: “I usually love what you wear, honey, but it just doesn't look quite as good this time.”
6. “They’re downsizing at work. But don’t worry. They won’t get me.” Many men still feel paternalistic about the women they love, so they lie to spare them worry. But these lies can destroy the very sense of confidence that the man hoped to create. And they can make a woman feel she is not a respected partner in the relationship.
7. “Sure, I’ll mow the lawn — as soon as this crick in my back goes away.” There are few things that trouble a man more than a woman’s anger — or nagging, as he calls it — so he lies to avoid a scene. It is in “hassle-prevention lying” that men can demonstrate their greatest versatility. - See more at: http://queenofrelationship.blogspot.com/2013/10/7-common-lies-men-tell.html#sthash.VbWHwPSN.dpuf

7 Common Lies men Tell
REVEALED: Okorocha’s Romance With Actresses
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State again has shown that he has a strong tie with Actresses.
Months after sacking Actress, Nkiru Sylvanus as his Special Assistant on Lagos Affairs, he has appointed another Nollywood actress into his cabinet.
The lucky actress is 25 year-old ex-Delta Soap model, Shirley Igwe. She’s now Okorocha’s Principal Protocol Officer. Her new appointment would entail her coordinating the governor’s daily itinerary, ensuring his comfort and that of his visitors.Shirley has since resumed duties.
With this appointment, tongues are already wagging about His Excellency’s penchant for actresses especially fair-complexioned ones.
Recall that actress, Nkiru Sylvanus was the first to be appointed into Okorocha’s cabinet as the state’s Liaison officer in Lagos before she was later redeployed to Owerri, after which she was relieved of her job. One hopes that Shirley will make the difference.

Two planes collide at Lagos international airport ikeja
We have heard of car collision, trailer collision and sometimes ship
collision. But what is weird is when you hear of two planes colliding.
this is what happened yesterday on Friday 25th October 2013 at the
Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, when a Turkish plane
collided with a Max Air plane transporting pilgrims coming from Saudi
Arabia.
The incidence occured when a Turkish aircraft that has successfully landed was trying to park and it wings collided with that of max Air which just transported pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.
the two planes as since been taken for repairs as both planes incurred some minor damages.
This is a big drama ooo, i think we have so many planes in Nigeria now that even planes now collide, You can just imagine the kind of big big grammar that would ensure between the airline managers “Wow you batched my plane”. Thank God it was just a minor damage and no life was lost.

Beyonce Shares Stylish Photo Of Herself And Blue Ivy
When
she first came out of the Big Brother Africa reality show, Beverly Osu
stunned many by denying that she ever had intercourse with South
Africa's rep, Angelo, even though almost everyone had clearly watched
the video that went viral. Anyway, she is now singing a new song. Below
is what she said when quizzed on the issue again:
MY LIFE OUTSIDE BBA…
My life outside BBA has been wonderful. It’s nothing I cannot handle.
THE PAINS AND GAINS…
Well, I’m usually a
very busy person, but it’s just that right now, I’ve been a very
unstable person. Sometimes, I can’t even stay here in Lagos for a week
without traveling here and there. I think that’s a good thing because
good things are coming out of it. And apparently, there’s always the
negative side and that is mostly things that are not true that you hear
about yourself; how people see you and so on. Some people don’t really
bother about perception, but if you’re somebody like me, you will think
about it and sometimes it will affect your work. But I thank God that my
life has been good.
THE SEX SCENE AT THE BBA…
Apparently, I don’t
feel sorry because I was being myself. So, I can’t say sorry to anyone
who feels disappointed. They’re living their lives and I’m living mine.
The only difference is that I was in a house where I had to make the
platform work for me; the platform everybody enjoyed seeing me make. If
you guys stuck to your television for 91 days only to see my faults,
then you should check yourself because people have their faults and it’s
only people with faults that quickly notice that in other persons. I
don’t criticise people and I don’t think people should critisice me...
no matter how you look at it, I’m still a youth.
