NA WA O! ‘MUSLIM ISLAND’ COMOROS BANS ‘#BRINGBACKOURGIRLS’ MARCH

The majority Muslim island nation of the Comoros has banned a march over the kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls by Islamic extremists, amid accusations the government wants to dodge religiously sensitive issues.
Officials in the capital Moroni rejected a request to march from children’s rights group Maeecha, saying “it is not possible to grant you permission to walk in the streets of the capital, for reasons related to the circulation of traffic.”
But NGOs accused the government of the Indian Ocean island of trying to silence debate on the actions of Islamist radicals.
The non-governmental Solidarity Association of the Indian Ocean Islands had appealed to the government to speak out on the kidnapping by the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, but met a wall of silence.
“Authorities that I consulted just after the kidnapping told me to wait because according to them it concerned a sensitive topic, religion,” said the group’s Soilha Said Mdahoma.
Boko Haram, whose name loosely translates as “Western education is forbidden”, kidnapped the girls from their dormitory on April 14, has claimed they converted to Islam and has threatened to sell them.
“No verse in the Koran, no religious principle justifies this kidnapping,” said the rights group’s Nasser Assoumani.
“Boko Haram is an enemy of Islam which does not follow the prophet’s doctrines.”
With a long history of political violence, including more than 20 coups, the Comoran authorities suggested Maeecha issue a statement rather than march in protest at the abduction.

I Quit Acting Because of Sexual Harassment says Actress/Singer Miss Independent

Not too long ago, a film director said there was nothing wrong in producers and directors sleeping with actresses on movie sets.
This he stated claiming if the affair is mutually agreed, no man should be prosecuted for such.
But the resolve of Cross River state-born sexy actress-cum-singer, Ine Aju, aka Miss Independent, to change the face of hip-hop music in Nigeria seems to be looking good. With the release of her hit single, ‘No forming’, which is gradually becoming every DJ’s favourite, Miss Independent certainly has an ace to play.
Speaking on the single and why she has decided to go more for music than acting, the graduate of Benue State University said, “Music has always been what I had in mind while growing up. My new track, ‘No Forming’, is a very interesting dance hall music which talks about how I pay my bills.
“I chose the title because it explains my kind of person. I do not ‘form’; I do my things in my own way. I quit acting for music because I was not getting the kind of roles I wanted and also the constant sexual abuses from producers. I still have plans to go back to acting in a bigger way. My fans should expect more singles and nice videos from me.”

‘How We Make N3,000 Daily From Using Military Uniform’ says Arrested Nine Man O War Disguising as Soldiers

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested nine fake soldiers in the state, accusing them of using military uniforms to perpetrate crimes …
According to the police, the suspects – John Henry, Israel Amuzu, Joseph Jidai, Peter Azubuike, Obi Chinyere, Oha Paul, Sulaiman Rahman, Hammed Gbadamosi and Oguntamu Abiola – were arrested in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area and other places while providing security for churches and vehicles.
They were paraded in the command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday.
One of them, Henry, said he made N3,000 on a daily basis from posing as a military man.
The 30-year-old indigene of Kaduna State, who is married with three children, explained that joblessness and the need to cater for his family forced him into parading himself as a soldier.
He said, “I got the military uniform from a friend who is a soldier. He left it for me when he was redeployed to another state. I was using the uniform to escort commercial drivers plying Mile 2 to the Oshodi area. These drivers give me about N3,000 on a daily basis.
“I actually want to join the military. That is why I wear the uniform, and I am ready to work in any part of the country.”
Another suspect, Jidai, an indigene of Maiduguri, Borno State, said he obtained the uniform from a soldier friend who was dismissed from the service recently.
“He sold it to me for N9,000 before he travelled. I am actually a member of the Man O’War. I wore the uniform to escort commercial drivers and I was given about N2,000 daily,” Jidai said.
However, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, warned that the police would not allow anyone to use military uniforms to perpetrate crimes.
He said, “All of them claimed to be members of the Man O’ War, but I do not know what Man O’ War members are doing in military uniforms. We arrested some of them who claimed to be working for the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area. While some fake soldiers were providing security for churches, others were escorting vehicles around Lagos.
“The fact is that none of them has ever served in the military. Many of them said they bought these uniforms in the market, but we would not allow anyone to use any uniform to perpetrate crimes here. Most of the crimes that were reported around the FESTAC area were perpetrated by these men who put on military uniforms. That is why we decided to put a stop to that.”
