The majority Muslim island nation of the Comoros has banned a march
over the kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls by Islamic
extremists, amid accusations the government wants to dodge religiously
sensitive issues.
Officials in the capital Moroni rejected a request to march from
children’s rights group Maeecha, saying “it is not possible to grant you
permission to walk in the streets of the capital, for reasons related
to the circulation of traffic.”
But NGOs accused the government of the Indian Ocean island of trying to silence debate on the actions of Islamist radicals.
The non-governmental Solidarity Association of the Indian Ocean
Islands had appealed to the government to speak out on the kidnapping by
the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, but met a wall of silence.
“Authorities that I consulted just after the kidnapping told me to
wait because according to them it concerned a sensitive topic,
religion,” said the group’s Soilha Said Mdahoma.
Boko Haram, whose name loosely translates as “Western education is
forbidden”, kidnapped the girls from their dormitory on April 14, has
claimed they converted to Islam and has threatened to sell them.
“No verse in the Koran, no religious principle justifies this kidnapping,” said the rights group’s Nasser Assoumani.
“Boko Haram is an enemy of Islam which does not follow the prophet’s doctrines.”
With a long history of political violence, including more than 20
coups, the Comoran authorities suggested Maeecha issue a statement
rather than march in protest at the abduction.

Kidnapped Chibok girls moved to Ashaka forest, Gombe – Source
“We have not, even for once, lost hope that these girls would be freed.”
The kidnapped Chibok girls have been moved from the Sambisa forest towards the forest around Ashaka in Gombe State, a top security official has told PREMIUM TIMES.
The security official, who sought anonymity as he was not authorised to speak, also denied the rumor that some of the girls were rescued on Saturday.
He, however, said there were high hopes for the quick rescue of the girls based on the ongoing cooperation between Nigerian officials and their counterparts from the U.S. and U.K. on the rescue efforts.
“It is not true that they have been rescued yet, but we noticed and observed movement of some of the girls from the Sambisa region towards Ashaka forest in Gombe state”, said the security personnel.
The officer added that efforts are being put in place to “carefully track” the abductors and get the girls freed.
“We have not, even for once, lost hope that these girls would be freed. This is a delicate matter which must be handled with all professionalism and absolute care”, the source added.
For almost a month that the over 250 girls were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, the Nigerian military has decided not to provide information on details of its rescue efforts.
The military has, however, said it is doing its best to free the girls.
Efforts to speak to the military spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, on the latest report of the girls’ sighting were unsuccessful as he did not pick or return calls nor respond to a text message sent to his phone.

Is complains and blames for failure of our culture? – Nkiru Sylvanus
“#bring back our girls. We have all spoken, we are known for that, we have always been like this, as a child growing up, all I hear is complains and blames, why this is not working or why that isn’t working, it has always been good reasons why we failed! Now am beginning to ask, is that our way of life? Is complains and blames for failure our culture? This is a great nation! We can actually take responsibility for our actions, we can solve the problems we created! The kidnappers, armed robbers, terrorist, are someone’s brothers, close friends, husband, boy friend, lover! Father! So they are human they live among us. There can only be change when we agree. In a nation where government has failed us, we as individuals can bring the change and solution we seek and desire. It’s all about sacrifice, it’s all about our voices! It’s all about unity! Not an opportunity to be popular! Or an opportunity to be richer! I was once a victim! From my little experience I can imagine what those children are passing through! Pray that ur freedom is not taken by a friend! Not to talk about an enemy! This is not a time to cry or weep for this nation for we have wept for too long. it’s a time to act! A time to stand together! A time for solution! Like Obama will say! “Yes we can” and I Nkeiruka Sylvanus say! Now is the time not tomorrow!”

#BringBackOurGirls– Adaora Ukoh & Keira Hewatch Shirts Do the Talking
“Lekki Wives” leading ladies Adaora Ukoh and Keira Hewatch are also speaking out on the #BringBackOurGirls calling on our government to sit up to their responsibilities.
“The 234/276 missing girls from Chibok
in Borno state has been a source of serious worry to everyone and
questions to our already messed up “security” issue in this country.
It’s sad but is our Nigeria Failing?… Kidnapping, Abduction, Terror
attacks, child slavery, child bride and the Killings and further threats
to complete disregard of human lives.
My heart reaches out to the families and
the loved ones of the missing girls as we ask…Where are our missing
girls?. Why are security agencies which are supposed to be the guards
suddenly decided to make criminals and these killings and bombings look
so mystified like spirits.
Why are they Killing the future of our great country?. Lets us keep speaking till we are heard. Till government acts.

Patience Jonathan did not order arrest of #BringBackOurGirls protest leader – Aide
The Media Assistant to the First Lady, Ayo Adewuyi, on Monday denied
that Patience Jonathan ordered the arrest of Naomi Mutah Nyadar, a
leader of a protest to release the girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in
Chibok, Borno State.
Mr. Adewuyi, in a statement in Abuja on Monday, said the attention of the president’s wife’s had been drawn to reports that she ordered the arrest of Mrs. Nyadar.
“We wish to state without any iota of equivocation that the first lady did not order the arrest of any woman or anyone for that matter before, during and after the meeting,” he said.
He confirmed that Mrs. Nyadar attended the women stakeholders’ meeting convened by Mrs. Jonathan to discuss ways and best strategies to ensure the release of the abducted students of Chibok Girls secondary School.
“It is instructive to note that the meeting ended after three o’clock on Monday morning.
“And all those invited to the meeting, including a handful of journalists who stayed throughout the lengthy meeting, left the Presidential Villa thereafter,’’ Mr. Adewuyi stated.
Mr. Adewuyi said that Mrs. Nyadar came to the meeting as part of the Borno State delegation.
“The women were alarmed when someone who knew her told the meeting that she was impersonating one of the mothers of the alleged abducted children on the basis for which she attended the meeting.
“The women expressed their disappointment when she confirmed that she is not a biological mother to any of the abducted children.
“Naomi left the State House with other members of the delegation.
“If she was arrested as claimed, then enquiries about her arrest should, therefore, be directed to the security agencies,’’ Mr. Adewuyi said.
Witnesses at the Asokoro police station where Ms. Nyadar was initially taken to said she was actually there and was eventually whisked away to an unknown destination.
Her lawyer, Samuel Ogala, also confirmed that she was arrested. After a crowd emerged at the police station demanding for the release of the woman, the Divisional Police Officer ran away. Moments later, she was taken away in a presidency van, Mr. Ogala said.
Ms. Nyadar was released by the police on Monday afternoon.
She is one of the women who have held protests daily in Abuja since April 30 to demand the release of the over 250 female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, who were kidnapped on April 14 from their school dormitory.
I will like to ask on whose order were they arrested?

#BringBackOurGirls protest leader arrested in Abuja
The leader of the ongoing protest pressuring the Nigerian government
to act and rescue over 240 schoolgirls abuducted in Chibok, Borno state
has been arrested.
Naomi Mutah Nyadar was detained by the police early Monday morning at Asokoro police station.
“We believe it is in connection with the protests she is leading,” her lawyer, Samuel Ogala, of the Falana and Falana Chambers explained.
Mrs. Nyadar has sustained the #BringBackOurGirls protest at the Unity Fountain, less than 200 metres away from the Transcorp Hilton Hotels venue of the planed World Economic Forum, WEF, starting in less than 52 hours. The protest ground could be sighted from the left wing of the hotel’s rooms.
The Nigerian government, eager to give the attendees of the World Economic Forum an impression of safety and serenity, shutdown all public offices and schools in the city.
Nigeria’s First Lady, accused of masterminding her arrest, was seen yesterday ‘crying’ over the abduction of the Chibok Schoolgirls. I think this crocodile tears is not because of 2015. Playing politics with human lives
